The error maintains that the artificially altered conjugal act retains its integrity. The claim is that the act remains unitive or loving, even though the procreative nature of the act has been radically violated. In fact, it is not unitive, for one or both of the partners withholds an essential part of the gift of self, which is the essence of the conjugal union. It is true that in many cases contraception and even abortion are practised under the pressure of real- life difficulties, which nonetheless can never exonerate from striving to observe God's law fully. Still, in very many other instances such practices are rooted in a hedonistic mentality unwilling to accept responsibility in matters of sexuality, and they imply a self-centered concept of freedom, which regards procreation as an obstacle to personal fulfilment. The life which could result from a sexual encounter thus becomes an enemy to be avoided at all costs, and abortion becomes the only possible decisive response to failed contraception."
~ Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, no. 13, March 25, 1995~

The sophistry is overwhelming...

"The sophistry is overwhelming: If I choose and desire my child, then ipso facto I have granted it the right to live, and it will live. It comes from the very beginnings of our faith. The early Church had no debates over politicians and communion. There wasn't any need. No persons who tolerated or promoted abortion would have dared to approach the Eucharistic table, let alone dared to call themselves true Christians. And here's why: The early Christians understood that they were the offspring of a new worldwide family of God. They saw the culture around them as a culture of death, a society that was slowly extinguishing itself. In fact, when you read early Christian literature, practices like adultery and abortion are often described as part of 'the way of death' or the 'way of the [devil].'"
~ Archbishop Charles Chaput, Church and State Today: What belongs to Caesar, and what doesn't, 10/26/07 ~

Pharmacists are called to face...

Pharmacists are "called to face the question of conscientious objection, which is a right that must be recognized for people exercising this profession, so as to enable them not to collaborate directly or indirectly in supplying products that have clearly immoral purposes such as, for example, abortion or euthanasia."
~ Pope Benedict XVI, Therapeutic Experiments Must Respect Basic Ethical Norms, 10/29/07 ~

Those who are called to stand witness...

"Those who are called to stand witness in this 24-hour-a-day presence send a powerful message to the community about the tragic reality of abortion.
